Periodontics in Tangier
Gums that bleed or recede, or teeth that feel loose, can be treated. We deal with the cause, then help you keep your gums healthy for the long term.
Healthy gums, the foundation of your smile
Periodontics treats the tissues that hold your teeth in place: the gum and the bone. Inflamed gums, known as gingivitis, respond well to treatment. Left alone, the inflammation can reach the bone. This is periodontitis: the gums recede, the teeth lose support, then they start to move.
Everything starts with an assessment. We measure the gum around each tooth and examine the bone on X-rays, with a 3D scan when needed. You look at the images with us, so you know exactly what needs treating.
Your gums also shape how your smile looks. A gum line that shows too much, is uneven or has receded can be corrected, on its own or before veneers or crowns.
Training in periodontology
Dr. Reda Saoui holds the University Diploma in Periodontology and Oral Surgery (DUPCO). Gum treatment, from deep cleaning to grafts, is carried out at the clinic.

Frequently asked questions
My gums bleed when I brush. Is it serious?
It is often the first sign of gum inflammation. It responds well when treated early. An assessment tells us whether the bone is affected.
Is deep cleaning painful?
It is done under local anaesthetic. Mild sensitivity can last a few days, then it eases.
Can a receding gum grow back?
Not on its own. A gum graft can cover the exposed root, depending on the shape of the gum and the bone around the tooth. We will tell you after the examination.
What is a gummy smile?
It is a gum line that shows a lot when you smile. Depending on the cause, we correct it with a gingivectomy or crown lengthening, sometimes combined with veneers.
Can I have implants if I have gum disease?
Yes, once your gums have been treated and are stable. This step comes first because it protects the life of your implants.
What is recovery like after gum surgery?
It is usually comfortable. We show you the right oral hygiene routine to follow at home, which also helps your gums heal well.
How much does gum treatment cost?
The price depends on your assessment: how many teeth are involved and which treatment you need. You will know it from your first consultation, along with your treatment plan.
